As an introvert, I find the most comfort on rainy days. It makes my desire to stay indoors justified. In my eyes, it’s like the universe is giving us a reason to take an easy day. For those of you that do have to work outside or compete in sports in the rain my heart is with you; but I also view this optimistically – taking it as a break from sweat and dehydration.
I enjoy how rain will dance on car windows and how the sky looks and the rain sounds when I wake up in the middle of the night during a storm, or when I’m falling asleep.
I enjoy being in the rain too, sometimes it feels like it makes life a little more magical. After all, ‘Singing in the Rain” seems to support that idea. I love how it makes people feel like kids again and they get to jump over puddles (or in puddles if they’re really daring). I feel like most of the time when I am watching a movie and they want to add emotion to the scene, they’ll shoot it when it is raining outside. Or at least they make it look like it is. Like in Pride and Prejudice when Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth have a deep heart to heart.
You know it might seem silly, but it’s just something I take comfort in. The rain is usually spontaneous, and there is just something so overall lighthearted about it.
Next time it’s raining outside and you don’t find yourself a fan of it, try looking for rainbows after or listening to the way it patters on your rooftop. Maybe you’ll find some comfort from it even though it can be cold and seem miserable at times.
Message of the day – you can always find comfort and a reason to look on the bright side of things (even if rain can dampen the day from time to time.)
